World 5-4 Code
Allows you to practice the bonus games. It also allows you to play a couple two-player “vs. mode” games.

Instructions:
On any stage selection screen, while pointing to a stage with the cursor, while holding Select, press X, X, Y, B, A.

If you enter the code correctly, a new menu will appear with several mini-games to choose from. You’ll need to enter the code every time you choose to play these games.

1-Up Tricks
World 1-7 (Easy!)

In this level you run into these Alien/Martian looking characters. If you approach them, they turn into balls. Yoshi can eat these and make eggs, kick them, etc. Take one of these balls and start polishing off enemies…kick the ball into them, or spit the ball out at them.

As you continue to the right in the stage you’ll find a green pipe (Just before the continue/star circle). Set the ball down between the pipe and the little square sand block on the left. If Yoshi’s egg-tail isn’t full, Shy-Guys will come out the pipe. As long as Yoshi stands nearby, the Martian will stay in ball-form and get the Shy-Guys as they come out of the pipe. After a Martian ball hits so-many enemies it gives 1-ups for each enemy after…until you get bored.

World 4-1

Basic Make a turtle shell bounce back and forth between two pipes where Shy-Guys keep coming out. After the shell hits 6 Shy-Guys, you’ll start getting 1-UPs.

Detailed – 8 Steps (Scroll Down)
1. Start the Stage and work your way right until you come to two Piranha Plants that are right next to each other.

2. Toss eggs to destroy both of them, then go back to the pipe on the left that has Shy-Guys coming out of it.

3. Eat up the Shy-Guys until Yoshi has six eggs.

4. Next, grab a turtle shell from one of the Koopa Troopas on the left side of the pipe.

5. Once you have six eggs and a turtle shell in your mouth, stand on the pipe where the lower Piranha Plant used to be.

6. Face left and drop the turtle shell between the pipes and let it bounce back and forth.

7. Face right and throw an egg away. As the Shy-Guys start to jump out of the pipe on the left, the shell knocks them down (time it so that none of the first six Shy-Guys land on top of the shell — if one of them lands on top of the shell, the shell might be destroyed and the trick won’t work).

8. After six Shy-Guys are destroyed, the game gives you 1-UPs! Take a break and let the game run. When you return, you’ll have plenty of 1-UPs (up to 999).
